Fearing Attacks, Tunisia Beefs Up Security İn Kasserine

Tunisia has stepped up security in the western Kasserine province, a security source has said.



"The move was taken in anticipation of more terrorist operations," the source told The Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.



According to the source, checkpoints have been set up at the province's eastern and western entrances.



Last month, Tunisian security forces killed nine militantsin the province, including the leader of the Oqba ibn Nafi militant group.



Since late 2012, Tunisia's western region – near the border with Algeria – has seen several militant attacks that have left scores of Tunisian security personnel dead.



Last month, at least 24 people, mostly foreign tourists, were killed in a militant attack on the Bardo Museum in capital Tunis.
