Turkish folk music singer Kamil Sönmez died early on Thursday in an İstanbul hospital.

Turkish folk music singer Kamil Sönmez died early on Thursday in an İstanbul hospital.



Sönmez, who was 65 years old, had been suffering from renal failure for the past two years. The singer was taken to an intensive care unit two days ago after he suffered a brain hemorrhage.



Born in 1947 in the Black Sea province of Ordu, Sönmez was a prominent folk singer.
