Georgia To Retain Visa-Free Regime With 94 Countries

The list of countries whose citizens will benefit from the visa-free regime upon entering the country is approved in Georgia, said the Director of the Consular Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Tabatadze.

The list of countries whose citizens will benefit from the visa-free regime upon entering the country is approved in Georgia, said the Director of the Consular Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Giorgi Tabatadze.



According to preliminary information, after making changes to the law on the legal status of foreigners and non-citizens in Georgia visa regime 24 countries were abolished, while 94 countries were retained.



Citizens of countries involved in visa-free regime will be able to stay in Georgia without a visa for 90 days, instead of the previously established 360 days.



Law on legal status of foreigners and non-citizens will enter into force from Sept.1.



If according to the current law it was possible to receive Georgian visas when entering the country at the border, in the diplomatic agencies of Georgia and public services development agency, from Sept. 1 it will be only possible to get a visa at the diplomatic missions. Visas at the border will be issued only in "special cases", which will be determined by the government.
