Georgia, US Discuss Economic Cooperation Issues

The US is pleased that Georgia continues developing and implementing the reforms, the US First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Kurt Tong said Oct. 30 after a meeting of the Economic Group of the US-Georgia Charter on Strategic Partnership.
The issues of trade-economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.

"Many topics, including trade and investments, intensification of relations in the private sector were discussed,” he said. “The US side was informed of the recent important promotion in Georgia. This is reflected in the economic reforms. The US delegation is pleased that the reforms are underway and the country is on the way of development."

“We also want to support Georgia’s efforts through private US companies," he said.

The group is led by the Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani and Deputy Economy Minister Mikhail Janelidze, the US First Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Economic and Business Affairs Kurt Tong, Deputy Assistant Administrator at the US Agency for International Development Jonathan Katz.
