German President To Visit Turkey For Talks

German President Joachim Gauck is set to make a four-day trip to Turkey for talks on bilateral relations as well as discussions around regional developments, a Turkish presidency statement said.

The statement said on Tuesday that Gauck will arrive in Turkey on Saturday and will proceed to inspect German troops on Sunday stationed in southern province of Kahramanmaraş, where they operate NATO's Patriot missiles against threats from Syria.

On the same day, the German president will visit a Syrian refugee camp. The statement didn't say which refugee camp the president will visit.

On Monday, Gauck will meet with his Turkish counterpart, Abdullah Gül, in Ankara. Both leaders will discuss "all dimensions of the two countries' bilateral relations", particularly in the political and economic sphere. They will also exchange views about the regional developments, along with Turkey's ties with the EU. (Cihan/Today's Zaman)
