Greek Foreign Minister To Visit Turkey

The Foreign Ministry has announced that Greek Foreign Minister Evangelos Venizelos will pay a visit to Turkey Nov. 29-30.

A statement on the Foreign Ministry's website reads: "On this occasion, H.E. Mr. [Mevlüt] Çavuşoğlu will exchange views with his counterpart on Turkish-Greek relations, including the preparations of the Third Meeting of the Turkish-Greek High Level Cooperation Council and will share our views on regional and international issues."

The Turkey-Greece High-Level Cooperation Council meeting is due to be held on Dec. 5-6 in Athens, under the co-chairmanship of Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and his Greek counterpart, Antonis Samaras.

It is expected that the ministers will discuss the Cyprus issue, with talks on reunification of the divided island, the process toward which is currently in a state of deadlock.

The latest setback was caused by a Turkish ship's exploration for oil and gas off the Cypriot coast, a move the Greek Cypriots claim was a violation of their Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
