Eric Abidal, French star defender for the Greek Olympiakos team, is set to announce his retirement from professional football Friday.
"Abidal has informed me about his departure from Olympiakos two months ago," Michel Gonzalez, Olympiakos' coach, told Greek press Thursday. "I am proud to have worked with a player like him."
Abidal, 35, played for many prominent European clubs such as Monaco, Lille, Lyon and Barcelona, in addition to 67 games with the French national team.
