Palestinian resistance faction Hamas has downplayed threats by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of targeting the group leaders.
"These threats don't scare Hamas," group spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a press release on Wednesday.
Netanyahu on Wednesday vowed to continue its military onslaught on the Gaza Strip, saying that Hamas leaders were not "immune" from Israeli attacks.
Abu Zuhri said that Netanyahu's threats "reflect the bloody nature of the [Israeli] occupation" and shows that Israel is unserious about reaching a ceasefire.
Israel resumed its airstrikes on the Gaza Strip on Tuesday after accusing Palestinian factions of firing rockets in violations of an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.
At least 23 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the small, densely populates strip since Tuesday.
Commander of Hamas' Ezzeddin al-Qassam Brigades Mohamed Deif survived an Israeli attack on the Gaza Strip on Wednesday. Deif's wife and his 7-month child were killed in the attack.
Since hostilities began on July 7, at least 2048 Palestinians have been killed and more than 10,000 others injured in relentless Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
According to Israeli figures, at least 67 Israelis – 64 soldiers and three civilians – have been killed.
