Hanyieh Says Tunnels New Qassam Weapon Against Israel

23.03.2014 18:17

Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said on Sunday that the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the resistance movement Hamas, is using tunnels as a new strategy in resisting Israel.

Gaza Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh said on Sunday that the Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of the resistance movement Hamas, is using tunnels as a new strategy in resisting Israel.

"Palestinian resistance fighters will face the Israeli occupation both from on the ground and beneath it until they liberate Palestine," Haniyeh told thousands of Gaza residents who rallied to mark the 10th anniversary of the assassination of Hamas spiritual leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.

Qassam Brigades had recently claimed responsibility for digging a tunnel extending from Gaza into the southern parts of Israel.

The group said the tunnel was discovered by the Israeli army only after it had collapsed of the rains.

Sheikh Yassin, who was confined to a wheel chair since the age of 12, died in 2004 when an Israeli aircraft targeted his car while returning from a Gaza City mosque after the dawn prayers.

  • ESH Sports has proposed nano sensor technology to more accurately assess controversial positions in football matches. With this technology, sensors placed in players' cleats and jerseys can instantly measure the intensity of impacts and report them to the VAR system. This way, it can be evaluated more reliably whether a position warrants a yellow or red card, or if a foul has occurred.
