DENIAL OF SEXUAL ABUSE ALLEGATIONS BY RANA'S FAMILY LAWYER

Hasan Yılmaz, the lawyer of the family of 2-year-old Rana, who lost her life in an attack by street dogs in Konya, made a statement regarding the allegations of sexual abuse on social media. Yılmaz, in a statement to journalists at the vacant lot in Başak Neighborhood where the incident occurred, said that the autopsy procedures for baby Rana were meticulously carried out at the Konya Forensic Medicine Institution and a preliminary report was prepared.

Expressing that the judicial investigation is being conducted meticulously, Yılmaz stated, "It has been observed that unfounded and speculative claims contrary to the statements of official authorities and the course of the ongoing investigation are being circulated on some social media accounts and in the press. Such baseless claims mislead the public." he said.

"IT IS DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE"

Emphasizing that he also has the death examination and autopsy report, Yılmaz noted:

"The abuse incident circulating on social media, the claims that no autopsy was performed, that the family was forcibly sent to Syria, and that this was not caused by the dogs are absolutely unfounded. The autopsy report of the Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office confirms that there are animal bite marks on many parts of the body during the external examination of the corpse. There is definitely no sexual abuse involved. The findings taken from the corpse have been sent to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institution for a definitive report."

Yılmaz emphasized that the unfounded accusations regarding baby Rana have further increased the family's pain, stating:

"I will initiate legal proceedings against all social media accounts that continue to make unfounded claims and individuals who come to the neighborhood to incite the public. The family has suffered enough. I have the autopsy report, the incident is solely a dog attack. The prosecutor's office and relevant units will take necessary actions against individuals and institutions that have been negligent. We will also provide the necessary support."
