The new "Epstein files" released by the U.S. Department of Justice reveal claims that, weeks before Jeffrey Epstein's death, he told guards that his cellmate had tried to kill him and had been harassing him. The documents indicate that on July 23, 2019, he was found breathless on the floor of his cell with a record of a "possible suicide attempt," after which he was placed on suicide watch, and later, on August 10, he was found dead in his cell.
New and striking allegations regarding Jeffrey Epstein's last days in prison have emerged. With the release of files by the U.S. Department of Justice related to the investigations into Epstein, a report has surfaced among the documents suggesting that weeks before his death, Epstein told prison officials that his cellmate had attempted to kill him and had harassed him.
The published files reportedly contain hundreds of photographs and thousands of pages of evidence related to the case, with some of the documents heavily redacted. It was noted that this release occurred about a month after the acceptance of the "Epstein Files Transparency Act," and that the documents could be downloaded publicly. It was also stated that some photographs of well-known figures such as Bill Clinton and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor were included in the documents, emphasizing that being mentioned in the documents did not indicate any crime or misconduct.
SUICIDE ATTEMPT IN PRISON
Epstein was being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York while awaiting trial on a series of sexual abuse charges. According to police records, Epstein was logged for a "possible suicide attempt" on July 23, 2019, about a month before his death.
CELLMATE HARASSED HIM
In a note from a prison officer, it was recorded that Epstein said his cellmate had attempted to kill him and had harassed him. The documents also included an internal communication titled "Possible Suicide Attempt." According to this, an officer was called to Epstein's cell around 1:00 AM.
"HE WAS LYING ON THE FLOOR IN A FETAL POSITION"
The officer's note stated, "I saw inmate Jeffrey Epstein lying on the floor of his cell in a fetal position, wearing a t-shirt and boxers. He was out of breath." Following this incident, it was reported that Epstein was taken to a special unit within the prison to be kept under observation and monitored for suicide risk.
According to the files, when Epstein was questioned by police officers and a psychologist, he claimed that his cellmate was targeting him, trying to "kill" him, and attempting to extort money. It was also noted that Epstein alleged his cellmate told him that "even if he was beaten because of the charges against him, the police would not do anything."
THREATS TO HIS LIFE CONTINUED
A note from a prison psychologist evaluating the allegations included a cautious statement. The psychologist reportedly assessed Epstein's injuries by saying, "We do not know if this is a game, if someone else did it, or if he created 'carpet burn'-like marks on himself to draw attention to his situation." The documents also included information that Epstein stated threats to his life had been ongoing for a week.
SUICIDE WAS DECLARED, BUT...
Furthermore, the documents recorded that after the incident, Epstein was dressed in special clothing for suicide risk, and some images taken during this process were also included. Jeffrey Epstein was found dead in his cell on August 10, 2019. According to official records, Epstein's death was declared a suicide. The published documents have brought back to light the events alleged to have occurred in the period leading up to Epstein's death.
