An illegal betting investigation is being conducted in Italy's top football league, Serie A. Twelve players have been placed under scrutiny as part of this new investigation. Among these athletes are names such as Juventus' Weston McKennie, Fiorentina's Nicolò Zaniolo, Roma's Leandro Paredes, and Atalanta's Raoul Bellanova, who are alleged to have used illegal betting platforms.

According to reports from Corriere della Sera and ANSA, 12 athletes, including Weston McKennie from Juventus, Nicolò Zaniolo from Fiorentina, Leandro Paredes from Roma, and Raoul Bellanova from Atalanta, have been placed under scrutiny as part of a new investigation.
The players mentioned in the investigation include; Alessandro Florenzi (Milan), Nicolò Zaniolo (Fiorentina), Mattia Perin, Weston McKennie (Juventus), Leandro Paredes (Roma), Angel Di Maria, Raoul Bellanova (Atalanta), Samuele Ricci (Torino), Cristian Buonaiuto (Padova), Matteo Cancellieri (Parma), Junior Firpo (Leeds United), and tennis player Matteo Gigante.
LOW CHANCES OF PUNISHMENT
It is alleged that the players used illegal betting platforms as part of the investigation. Since no bets were placed on football matches, the likelihood of the athletes facing punishment is considered low. Even if a penalty is imposed, it is stated that it would only be a symbolic fine of 250 Euros.
However, the Italian Football Federation may initiate a separate disciplinary investigation regarding the matter. Nevertheless, as long as no bets are placed on football matches, it is not expected that the players will be banned from the fields.
