The MasterChef jury member Mehmet Yalçınkaya's restaurant in Ankara has come into the spotlight again due to the price of 550 TL set for two cherry leaf wraps. A TikTok user's post sparked a discussion on social media. While some users found the price "exaggerated," others argued that such figures are normal in experience-focused restaurants.
The famous chef Mehmet Yalçınkaya, one of the beloved jury members of MasterChef Turkey, opened a restaurant in Ankara, which has once again become the focus of social media due to its high prices on the menu. Previously, the venue sparked controversy with its 700 TL "keşli mantı" and 1,550 TL meat dish named "Serseri," and this time it drew attention with the price of its cherry leaf wraps.
TWO CHERRY LEAF WRAPS 550 TL
In a video shared by a TikTok user, it was seen that only two cherry leaf wraps in the restaurant cost 550 TL. The video quickly gained significant attention, while comments were divided. Some users deemed the price "exorbitant" and "exaggerated," while others argued that high prices are normal in such experience-focused chef restaurants. Comments like "500 TL should not be paid for 2 wraps" particularly stood out.
HE HAD RESPONDED TO CRITICISMS
Mehmet Yalçınkaya had previously stated that his restaurant offers a gastronomic experience and emphasized that the products used are local, high-quality, and specially produced. However, these statements could not prevent price criticisms on social media.
