Hundreds Of Egypt Students Stricken With Food Poisoning

At least 312 students have come down with suspected food poisoning in three separate provinces of Egypt, the Health Ministry has said.



Students reportedly began showing symptoms of food poisoning after eating meals served at three separate state-run primary schools.



"Ambulances took [sick students] to hospitals to receive the necessary medical care," read a Wednesday ministry statement, adding that 211 cases had been registered in Egypt's Suez province, 98 in the southern Aswan province and three in capital Cairo.



According to some international media reports, the company that provides the school meals is operated by the Egyptian military, which is involved in numerous aspects and sectors of the national economy.



In recent weeks, hundreds of students countrywide have come down with food poisoning, particularly in the Monoufiya, Sharqiya, Beheira and Sohag provinces. -
