In the Baja Bolu race, a civilian vehicle suddenly entered the stage route, causing a significant danger. Thanks to the quick reflexes of the experienced drivers, the collision was narrowly avoided, although both vehicles sustained damage. The drivers escaped the accident unscathed but had to withdraw from the race.
The 4th leg of the 2025 Burhan Turan Turkey Baja Championship, organized by the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED) in Bolu, witnessed intense competition over three days on challenging stages.
HEART-STOPPING INCIDENT
The races, which saw the participation of 26 vehicles and 52 athletes, concluded with an award ceremony held yesterday. The athletes battled against tough track conditions on a total of 247 kilometers of special stages. During the race, a heart-stopping incident occurred.
CIVILIAN VEHICLE ENTERED THE RACE, DISASTER AVERTED AT THE LAST MOMENT
An unexpected entry of a civilian vehicle onto the race route nearly caused a major accident. Rally driver Eren Alver and co-driver Onur Şirimoğlu managed to avoid a collision thanks to their quick reflexes, resulting in only a minor impact. Both vehicles sustained damage, but the drivers escaped the accident unscathed. Those moments were captured second by second by the in-car camera of the rally vehicle. Due to the accident, the Alver–Şirimoğlu team could not continue the race and had to withdraw from the stage.
INVESTIGATION INITIATED
While the organization officials initiated an investigation into how the civilian vehicle entered the course, the athletes stated that a potential disaster was narrowly averted.
