On July 14, 2025, in the İpekyolu district of Van, Onur Karael was attacked by unidentified individuals while in his vehicle with his 3 daughters. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but could not be saved despite all interventions. The funeral of the phenomenon, who had thousands of followers, was held in his hometown Yüksekova, while the family did not set up a condolence tent.

Meryem Karael, who was in the vehicle with her 3 injured daughters, recounted the night of the incident in tears. Stating that her husband and children were treacherously ambushed, Karael said, "As my husband was returning to the parking lot, individuals hiding behind the cars suddenly appeared. They first shot at my husband, then started shooting at my children in the back."

"MY CHILDREN ARE IN INTENSIVE CARE"

Karael, who said she lay on the ground with her son upon hearing the gunshots, reported that each of her 3 injured daughters had 4-5 bullets in their bodies and were in intensive care.

Meryem Karael, who stated that she saw those who carried out the attack, emphasized that her husband and children were innocent. "We are still receiving threatening messages. This is a crime against humanity, it is a barbarity," said Karael, reacting to the calls for peace. Meryem Karael expressed that she does not view the calls for peace positively, stating, "We want no more mothers to cry. I do not want peace; I only want justice. After my husband was treacherously killed, that peace lost its meaning."

Describing the incident as a "massacre" and "barbarity," Karael stated that her only wish is for justice to be served.

In the investigation related to the incident, 4 of the 6 individuals taken into custody were arrested and sent to prison, while it was noted that the investigation is ongoing in multiple directions. -
