In the village of Haydarbetli, connected to the center of Yozgat, no one has smoked for 10 years. After President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call to quit smoking, the villagers took action in 2015 and have been living away from cigarettes since then. In the streets, houses, and tea houses of the village, which has a population of about 200, smoking is not allowed. In Haydarbeyli, known as the "smoke-free village" due to its determined stance, this addiction has been replaced by walks, conversations, and clean environments where time is spent together.

Abdullah Ceylan, the President of the Yozgat Branch of the Green Crescent, stated that the social will demonstrated by the village of Haydarbeyli is an example for Turkey. Ceylan, who hopes that this determination will spread throughout the country, noted:

Büşra Karaca, a Social Service Specialist at the Green Crescent Counseling Center (YEDAM), also stated that the villagers of Haydarbeyli quitting smoking years ago is an example for Turkey, and she mentioned that they provide information to prevent them from starting again.

Muhtar Recep Uğurlu stated, "We quit smoking in response to our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call. Now it is known as the 'smoke-free village.' This makes us all happy. We are setting an example for the guests who come to the village. We explain that no one smokes in our village and show that there are no cigarette butts in the streets. The fact that no one smokes in this village, which has a population of about 180-200, makes us proud."
The village's imam, Murat Yasin Konuk, expressed his gratitude to the organizations fighting against smoking, stating that they chat with the citizens gathered in the mosque courtyard and that no one uses cigarettes. Konuk pointed out that the village has become an example in the fight against addiction.

One of the villagers, Hacıgül Karadavut, stated that she smoked for 20 years but ended this habit with the decision made. She mentioned that her health problems decreased after quitting smoking and that she feels better both financially and spiritually, recommending this to everyone. Mahir Oran also said that he quit smoking, which he had used for 20 years while living in Ankara, after returning to the village due to health issues. He added that he warns his children not to smoke and that guests coming to the village respect the rules and do not smoke on the street.
