India has expressed the hope that a good agreement will emerge from the upcoming Paris conference on climate change, due to be held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 in the French capital. "Hope that the world will be able to arrive at a good climate agreement because this is the need of the hour.

India has expressed the hope that a good agreement will emerge from the upcoming Paris conference on climate change, due to be held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 11 in the French capital.

"Hope that the world will be able to arrive at a good climate agreement because this is the need of the hour. All countries are suffering, particularly the poor sections of the society," Indian Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar told the media Friday.

Ruling out the possibility of India opposing any deal, the minister said, "This time we are proposing what can be the real good alternative, what can be the best climate deal, what can be a just equitable deal."

He added, "India will propose the best and just equitable deal at the 21st session of Conference of Parties (COP21), which aims to reach at a legally binding agreement to keep global warming below two degrees Celsius."

On the need of 2.5 trillion U.S. dollars as financial aid to combat climate change, the minister said it would not be difficult to mobilise resources through public or private funding.

"We have worked out the mathematics. It's not just a wish list but backed by money power," he said. (Cihan/Xinhua)
