Iran, Powers Extend Nuclear Talks To July 1

Iran and the world powers agreed on Monday to extend the deadline of nuclear talks to July 1 next year in an attempt to secure a comprehensive deal over Tehran's controversial nuclear program, the official IRNA news agency reported, quoting a member of the Iranian nuclear negotiating team.

Based on the agreement, the interim Geneva deal sealed on Nov. 24, 2013, will also be extended by July 1, 2015, the Iranian nuclear official said, adding that the talks will resume in the near future during the extended period.

No details about the monetary gains of Iran or removal of sanctions against the country during this period were released, the state IRIB TV said. The reports did not reveal new Iranian commitments to transparency measures over its nuclear program. (Cihan/Xinhua)
