Iran's Zanjan City Residents Protest Pollution Caused By Factories

Hundreds of Iranian Zanjan city residents gathered in front Governor and Supreme Linder’s representative’s office to protest air pollution caused by zinc and lead factories in the city.

Hundreds of Iranian Zanjan city residents gathered in front Governor and Supreme Linder's representative's office to protest air pollution caused by zinc and lead factories in the city, Fars news agency reported.



Protests particularly have targeted a lead factory located 15 kilometers from Zanjan city, the report said.



Reportedly, the protesters requested that factory's activity to be halted or its location changed to somewhere else.



According to the reports, Zanjan Province's Governor and Supreme leader's representative in Zanjan walked out to the people, and asked them to stop protesting.



Zanjan Province's Governor has promised that zinc and lead factories activities will be halted.



It should be recalled that, for the being time more than 70 zinc and lead factories are active in Zanjan.
