Iran will build ten new oil and natural gas refineries in its giant South Pars energy field, Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh announced Wednesday.
The new refineries will help start export of condensates in processed form instead of solely as raw material, he told Iranian news agency Mehr.
"Currently, our most important project is to increase oil and gas production in the west Karun and South Pars fields," he was "ed as saying by the agency.
Shared between Iran and Qatar, the supergiant South Pars is the world's largest natural gas field.
"By increasing the production in South Pars, Iran aims to produce 4.7 million barrels of crude oil per day in 3 years," Zanganeh said.
Iran aims to export an annual 80 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Asia and Europe by 2020.
Roughly 90 percent of Iran's gas exports currently go to Turkey, amounting to around 10 billion cubic meters per year.
