Five people were killed and six others were injured Friday after an explosive device detonated near a market in the Iraqi province of Diyala.
A security source, who refused to disclose his identity, told Anadolu Agency: "An explosive device detonated near shops at a market in al-Muqdadiyah district [35 km northeast of Baqubah, Diyala governate's provincial capital], targeting the civilian crowds at peak shopping time a few hours before iftar."
There has been no official comment on the attack so far.
Despite Iraqi forces announcing they had retaken full control of Diyala province from Daesh at the end of January, the militant group still launches attacks in the province. - Irak
