An Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) suicide bomber who detonated a car laden with explosives in Kobani on Monday was a Kurdish militant from Turkey, the Hürriyet daily reported on Wednesday, citing “ISIL sources.”

The report quoted a news organization operating under ISIL as saying that the Kurdish militant from Turkey has caused "serious harm" to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

“A fighter inside Kobani said two car bombers detonated explosives in the city's eastern industrial area. One killed two Syrian Kurdish fighters, and the other was shot at by Kurdish forces and detonated explosives before reaching intended targets, said the fighter, who can't be named for security reasons,” said CNN on Tuesday.

Turkey previously stated that it would not support any kind of weapons transfers to the Kurdish fighters, who are allied with the PKK in Kobani. The Democratic Union Party (PYD), the Syrian branch of the PKK, has been fighting against ISIL militants in the Syrian town of Kobani near the Turkish border. The PKK is classified as a terrorist organization by the US, Turkey and the European Union.
