The Israeli army on Thursday said it had detained a Palestinian youth after he tried to stab a solider in the south of West Bank.
"A Palestinian attempted to stab an IDF [Israeli army] soldier using a knife in the Gush Etzion junction," the army said on its official Twitter account.
"Forces at the scene identified the terrorist and detained him. No injuries have been reported," it added.
There have been several stabbing attacks by Palestinians against Israelis in occupied East Jerusalem and West Bank recently amid simmering tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank during the 1967 Middle East War. It later annexed the city of Jerusalem in 1980, claiming it as the capital of the self-proclaimed Jewish state in a move never recognized by the international community.
