Israel Arrests 12 More Palestinians In West Bank Raids

16.05.2024 12:12

At least 8,755 Palestinians detained by Israeli forces in West Bank since last Oct. 7, according to Palestinian figures.

Israeli army forces detained 12 more Palestinians on Thursday in military raids across the occupied West Bank, according to prisoners' affairs groups.

Minors were among the detainees in the raids that occurred in the cities of Hebron, Tulkarem, Nablus, Tubas and Qalqilya, the Commission of Detainees' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society said in a joint statement.

The new arrests brought to 8,755 Palestinians detained by the Israeli army in the West Bank since last October, according to Palestinian figures.

The Israeli army raided several areas in the occupied territory early Thursday amid rising tensions over Israel's ongoing onslaught on the Gaza Strip, which killed more than 35,200 people since last Oct. 7 following a Hamas attack.

At least 503 Palestinians have since been killed and nearly 5,000 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied territory, according to the Health Ministry.

Israel stands accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which in January issued an interim ruling that ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
