A Palestinian protester was injured Friday by live ammunition when Israeli forces dispersed weekly rallies against Israel's decades-long occupation in different parts of the West Bank, resistance activists have said.
A 21-year-old Palestinian man was hospitalized after being shot in the thigh when Israeli troops dispersed a demonstration in the city of Nablus, according to the Palestinian Popular Resistance Committees, which organize anti-occupation rallies on a weekly basis.
The group also said that four other Palestinians had been injured by birdshot.
In Ramallah, at least five Palestinians and two foreign activists were hurt when Israeli forces used birdshot and teargas to disperse anti-occupation protesters, according to an Anadolu Agency reporter in the field.
A 12-year-old Palestinian boy was also briefly detained by Israeli forces during the dispersal.
Every Friday, Palestinians stage protests against ongoing Israeli settlement building and Israel's separation wall, which snakes across the occupied West Bank isolating large swathes of Palestinian territory.
The weekly rallies are typically dispersed by force by the Israeli army.
According to the Palestinian government in Ramallah, the separation wall effectively cuts some 50,000 Palestinian residents of occupied East Jerusalem off from the city center.
