26.04.2015 15:03

By Anees Barghouthy.

Israeli authorities set conditions to hand over the body of a slain Palestinian teen to his family, a Palestinian NGO has said.

"Israeli authorities have decided to hand over the body of Ali Abu Ghanim at midnight tonight with conditions," local activist Mohamed Mahmoud was "ed as saying by official Palestinian Wafa news agency.

"The Israeli authorities said only 70 people are allowed to receive the body," Mahmoud said, without specifying the place of delivery. "Time of delivery will be between eleven to twelve midnight," he added.

Israeli troops on Saturday shot and killed 16-years-old Abu Ghanim, who hails from Al-Tur neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem, under the pretext that he tried to stab Israeli policemen.

Also on Saturday, another Palestinian died of wounds he sustained by Israeli gunfire in Al-Khalil (Hebron) after he had allegedly stabbed and injured an Israeli soldier near the Ibrahimi Mosque.

In addition, three Israeli policemen were injured on Saturday when Palestinian ran over them with his car in Al-Tur.

Recent months have seen an uptick in violence in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, which has led to deaths and injuries on both sides.

Several Israelis have been killed or injured amid increasingly frequent Palestinian attacks.

Israeli forces, meanwhile, continued to carry out raids on West Bank villages, frequently rounding up groups of young Palestinian men on claims they are "wanted" by Israeli authorities.

Israeli troops also typically use force to disperse weekly Palestinian demonstrations against the self-proclaimed Jewish state's decades-long occupation, which occasionally leads     to fatalities among protesters.

Palestinians, meanwhile, decry frequent attacks by extremist Jewish settlers on their communities and property in the occupied territories.
