Four Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip on Thursday by a fresh Israeli airstrike that targeted a cemetery, according to a Palestinian Health Ministry spokesman.
"The four were killed when Israeli planes struck a cemetery as mourners buried a deceased relative in the central Gaza Strip," spokesman Ashraf al-Qodra told Anadolu Agency.
The latest fatalities bring to 2069 the number of Palestinians killed in relentless Israeli attacks on the small, densely-populated Gaza Strip since hostilities began on July 7, he said.
Violence flared up again on Tuesday between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip following the collapse of Egypt-hosted indirect talks aimed at reaching a permanent ceasefire deal.
Israel accuses Palestinian resistance factions of violating a temporary ceasefire (which expired on midnight Tuesday) – a claim denied by Hamas, which in turn accused the self-proclaimed Jewish state of attempting to derail ceasefire talks in Cairo.
According to Israeli figures, at least 67 Israelis – 64 soldiers and three civilians – have been killed since hostilities began on July 7.
