Israeli Officer İnjured By Stone-Throwing İn W. Bank

A senior Israeli officer was slightly injured by Palestinian stone-throwers in the West Bank on Monday.



"Palestinian youths have attacked an Israeli military vehicle in the southern West Bank," Israeli military sources told Israel's Channel 7.



According to the sources, Israeli forces have launched a manhunt for the attackers.



Tension has been high in the West Bank as Palestinians staged several rallies marking Palestinian "Land Day."



Every year on March 30, Palestinians in Israel and the occupied territories mark Land Day, which commemorates the killing of six Palestinians by Israeli troops in 1976 during demonstrations that erupted in the northern Galilee region against Israel's seizure of thousands of square kilometers of Arab land.



Galilee residents had responded to the land confiscation by declaring a general strike, prompting Israeli troops to invade the region and clash with locals.



Each year, Palestinians hold various marches and activities – in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, in the Gaza Strip and in Arab regions inside Israel – to commemorate the incident.
