An Israeli army official claimed Saturday that Lebanon's Hezbollah movement has an arsenal of 100,000 missiles.
"The enemy [Hezbollah] has launched 14,000 missiles during the last war [in 2006]," Director of Political-Military Affairs for the Israeli Defense Ministry Amos Gilad was "ed by Israeli radio as saying.
"Estimates indicate that Hezbollah has 100,000 missiles in Lebanon," Gilad added during a seminar held in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba.
Gilad did not rule out another confrontation in the northern region of Israel, in reference to the border area with Lebanon.
"The enemy's capabilities have grown in an unprecedented fashion," Gilad warned, stressing the need to develop Israel's defensive technologies and boost intelligence operations.
"The most important challenge is the prospective nuclear deal with Iran, and there are other terrorism-supporting countries seeking to obtain nuclear weapons," Gilad said.
He added that "the U.S. and Israel are currently studying the possibility of a military response if necessary," he said, going on to reiterate his rejection of Russia's sale of S300 missiles to Iran.
