Israeli Warplanes Hit Empty Lands İn Gaza; No Casualties

Israeli warplanes staged two airstrikes on empty lands in southern Gaza Strip in the early hours of Saturday – the first such strikes since August 26 – but left no casualties, eyewitnesses said.



According to the witnesses, the Israeli fighter jets fired missiles at empty lands in the west of Khan Younis city for the first time since the end of the 51-day Israeli onslaught against the blockaded enclave this summer.



The airstrikes caused power outage in the nearby residential areas as well as a wide state of panic among the Palestinian civilians, they said.



Medical sources told The Anadolu Agency that the strikes did not cause any casualties.



The Palestinian security agencies, meanwhile, evacuated their offices across the enclave over fears of possible Israeli attacks, a security source said.



The last hours of Friday had seen Israeli warplanes flying over the Palestinian enclave at a low altitude.



Earlier in the day, Israeli radio said that a rocket was fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel, but caused no casualties.



No group has claimed responsibility for the reported attack.



On July 7, Israel launched a 51-day offensive on the Gaza Strip with the stated aim of halting rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.



By the time the offensive ended on August 26 – with the signing of an Egyptian-sponsored cease-fire deal between Israel and Palestinian resistance factions – more than 2,160 Gazans had been killed, mostly civilians, and nearly 11,000 others injured.



At least 73 Israelis – 68 soldiers and five civilians – were also killed during the seven-week-long conflict.
