İstanbul Theater's Kurdish Rendition Of Beckett Play To Premiere In Tbilisi

İstanbul-based bilingual theater company tiyARTro will perform Irish playwright Samuel Beckett's one-act 1958 play “Krapp's Last Tape” for the first time in Kurdish under the title “Teyba Dawi A Krapp” at the Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre next week.Adapted into Kurdish by Hilmi Demirer, “Teyba Dawi A Krapp” will get its world premiere on Oct. 6 at the Kote Marjanishvili State Drama Theatre's small stage as part of the festival's New Market program. tiyARTro's performance of the play will be the company's season opener as well. Genco Demirer is the producer and the stage and costume designer of the play, directed by Emre Erdem. Choreographed by Gökmen Kasabalı, “Teyba Dawi A Krapp” casts Hilmi Demirer as Krapp, an isolated and lonely man who has dreamt of being good writer but has failed throughout his life. Another festival play from Turkey is İstanbul-based Bo Sahne's rendition of British stage actor-playwright Pip Utton's “Adolf,” which will be performed on Oct. 5 again at the Kote Marjanishvili theater's small stage as part of the New Market program. Directed by Levent Özdilek, the monodrama features Burak Sergen as Adolf Hitler.

The Tbilisi International Festival of Theatre is running from Sept. 5 to Oct. 8, hosting performances by more than 50 theater companies from around the world.
