The bill to raise the minimum pension to 20,000 lira, effective from January 2026, has been approved by the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly.

The Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) convened to discuss the bill on amendments to certain laws and the Decree Law No. 375.

THE MINIMUM RETIREMENT SALARY HAS BECOME 20 THOUSAND LIRA

During the discussions, which sometimes experienced tensions, the proposal to raise the minimum retirement salary was accepted.

IT WILL BE EFFECTIVE FROM JANUARY 1

With the proposal, the minimum retirement salary, which was 16 thousand 881 TL, has been increased to 20 thousand TL with an 18.40% increase. The 3 thousand 119 lira raise will be effective from January 1. Additionally, the minimum wage support offered to employers has been increased from 1 thousand lira to 1 thousand 270 lira.

REGULATION REGARDING TELEVISION

On the other hand, with the accepted proposal, changes made to the Law on the Establishment and Broadcasting Services of Radio and Television will result in media service providers that establish unauthorized transmitters, despite having a broadcasting license but broadcasting outside of the license type, being warned by the Supreme Board. Legal and administrative sanctions will be applied to those who continue unauthorized broadcasting despite the warning.

Real persons and legal entities that act contrary to the ruling, as well as the members of the board of directors and the general manager of legal entities, will be punished with imprisonment from one year to two years and judicial fines ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 days. Additionally, security measures in the Turkish Penal Code will be applied to legal entities. Broadcasting devices and facilities that continue their activities without permission will be sealed and closed by the Supreme Board.
