Italian workers took to the streets of Rome on Saturday to protest the government's proposed liberalization of labor laws.
Following the call from Italy's unions, around one million protesters across the country came together and marched through the city center.
Carrying banners and chanting against the Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, the protesters expressed dissatisfaction with his proposals to make firing and hiring more flexible.
Susanna Camusso, head of the CGIL, told the crowds that they will strike, and use all their strength to fight to change the government's policies.
Renzi, whose government took office in February, announced the intention to overhaul the country's labor regulations and to initiate a major reform of the country's tax and education systems.
