Due to his statements in the program on his YouTube channel, journalist Levent Gültekin, who was detained by police while sitting in a café in Bebek, Istanbul, was released under judicial control measures.
Journalist Levent Gültekin was detained last night on the charge of "publicly disseminating misleading information" due to statements made during his program on his YouTube channel.
"THERE IS NOT EVEN A SINGLE SENTENCE IN WHICH I HAVE INSULTED ANYONE"
Gültekin was detained by police while sitting in a café in Bebek at 01:20 and was taken to Vatan Police Station. In his statement, the famous journalist said, "There is no concrete determination regarding which misleading information I have disseminated. The video is entirely political commentary, an interpretation of current events. There is not even a single sentence in which I have insulted anyone by name." Gültekin was released under judicial control measures.
WHO IS LEVENT GÜLTEKİN?
Levent Gültekin was born in 1972 in the Göle district of Ardahan. He completed his primary, secondary, and high school education in Göle. He obtained his bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Anadolu University and his master's degree in International Relations from Selçuk University. He entered the media sector in 1995 with Yeni Şafak. After working in various departments, he became the general manager in 2000. At the end of 2000, he left and published the weekly magazine Gerçek Hayat. In 2007, he served as a senior executive at Star Media Group, and in 2009, at Cine5 Media Group. After leaving Cine5 in 2010, he began writing columns. He has two books titled "Shatafatlı Mağlubiyet" and "Onurlu Çıkış."
