WHO IS HIKMET ÇETİN?
Born in 1942 in the Edremit district of Balıkesir, Hikmet Çetinkaya completed his high school education at Manisa Male High School before starting his journalism journey as a reporter at Cumhuriyet.
Between 1966 and 1980, Çetinkaya drew attention with interviews he conducted across Turkey and received many awards throughout his career. In addition to the Hasan Tahsin Award given by the İzmir Journalists Association in 1968, 1970, and 1971, he also received the Turkish Language Association Press Award in 1975.
Çetinkaya, who also served as the İzmir representative of Cumhuriyet newspaper for a period, regularly wrote columns starting from 1986. A master who contributed not only to journalism but also to the literary world with his pen, he brought many books to readers.
In 2014, he was awarded the Burhan Felek Press Service Award by the Turkish Journalists Association for his professional accumulation and services over more than 50 years.
