The number of people who lost their lives in the protests that began due to economic issues in Iran has risen to 42. In a statement regarding the protests, Iranian leader Khamenei said, "Trump should look at the problems in his own country; there is no tolerance for the rebels. Iran will not step back from its principles."
Protests initiated by merchants in the Tehran Grand Bazaar on December 28, 2025, due to a significant devaluation of the local currency against foreign exchange rates and economic issues, spread to many cities across the country. In the ongoing demonstrations that have lasted for days, 42 people have lost their lives.
"THEY WANT TO PLEASE TRUMP"
Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a new statement regarding the protests, said, "There are rebels who want to please U.S. President Trump by damaging public property. Trump should look at the problems in his own country; there is no tolerance for the rebels. Iran will not step back from its principles."
PROTESTS ESCALATED
Meanwhile, the protests intensified on their 12th day. People took to the streets in many cities, especially in the capital Tehran, where security forces clashed with protesters in some areas. In Gorgan, the governor's office was set on fire, while police vehicles were burned in Tehran.
TRUMP REMINDED OF HIS WARNING TO IRAN
In an interview with Fox News, U.S. President Trump made statements regarding the ongoing mass protests in Iran, saying, "In the past, they shot at protesters. I said that if they do this, we will respond very harshly. So far, they have largely not done that. The desire to overthrow the current regime is at an incredible level."
ISRAEL SHARED SUPPORT IN PERSIAN
In a Persian post from the X account named "IsraelPersian" belonging to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, support was expressed for the protests in Iran, stating, "Qom, Mashhad, Tehran, Dezful - all of Iran belongs to the Iranian people."
THY CANCELED FLIGHTS TO IRAN
As tensions in the region continue to rise, Turkish Airlines (THY) announced, "Due to the regional developments in Iran, a total of 17 flights scheduled for January 9, Friday, and January 10, Saturday, to Tehran, Tabriz, and Mashhad have been canceled."
