During a bag search at a school in France, an assistant who was injured in a knife attack by a student has died in the hospital where he was taken. French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou stated in a press conference following the attack, "We aim to install security booths at the entrances of schools."
Bad news has come from the assistant who was injured in a knife attack organized by a student at a middle school in Nogent, France. The 31-year-old assistant, who was injured during a bag search, died in the hospital to which he was taken. While the investigation into the attack continues, the assailant has been taken into custody.
"WE CANNOT IGNORE THIS WAVE OF CHILD VIOLENCE IN FRANCE"
After the attack, French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou, speaking in the parliament, stated, "The government plans to install security booths at school entrances." Bayrou said, "This situation is not an exceptional event. We cannot ignore this wave of child violence in France. We cannot face this wave coming towards us with open arms while remaining indifferent." He also expressed his desire to ban certain cutting tools that are not yet considered weapons, in addition to the security booths aimed to be installed at school entrances.
"OUR GOVERNMENT HAS ALSO MOBILIZED TO REDUCE CRIME"
French President Emmanuel Macron also stated in a post on his social media account, "An educational assistant in Nogent lost his life in the face of an irrational wave of violence while caring for our children. Our entire nation is in mourning, and our government has mobilized to reduce crime," he said.
A LARGE NUMBER OF KNIVES SEIZED IN SEARCHES AT SCHOOLS IN FRANCE
Since March, random searches have been conducted in schools and around schools for knives and other weapons hidden in bags. At the end of April, following a fatal attack at a school in Nantes, 94 knives were seized during 958 bag checks conducted in schools.
