Kosovo Fm Pays First Official Visit To Serbia

Kosovo's Foreign Minister Enver Hoxhaj has paid the first official visit by a foreign minister of independent Kosovo to Serbia.



Attending a conference on economic management in Belgrade on Thursday, Hoxhaj said Kosovo and Serbia would solve all the problems that existed between them within three to five years.



Hoxhaj said:  "This is the first visit of a Foreign Minister of Kosovo to Serbia -- it shows that relations between the two countries have been transformed.



"We are very much interested in continuing dialogue with Serbia. It is dialogue which tries to transform the inter-state relations between Serbia and Kosovo."



"I can see it is possible that Kosovo and Serbia can move ahead in three to five years to solve their issues," he added.



 



'Off the agenda'



He went on:  "A few years ago such a visit was not even possible to imagine.



"Kosovo is on its way to joining the European Union. Kosovo is an independent country and always will be an independent country."



The conference, comprising West Balkan countries' foreign and economy ministers, was aimed at further strengthening regional economic cooperation and setting the foundations of "sustainable growth" of the countries in the region, organizers said.



Serbian Foreign Minister Dacic said in a statement before the meeting that problems between Serbia and Kosovo would not be on the agenda.
