Prime Minister of Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) in northern Iraq Nechirvan Barzani received pro-Kurdish deputies from Turkey Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Leyla Zana, who are also members of delegation visiting outlawed Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan in the prison within Kurdish settlement process, on Monday in Irbil.
The delegation from Turkey consisting of People’s Democracy Party (HDP) deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Independent Deputy Leyla Zana and co-President of Kurdish National Congress (KNK) Nilüfer Koç visited Prime Minister Barzani at his office to deliver PKK leader Öcalan’s letter addressing to all Kurdish political parties in the region. Barzani stated during the meeting that as KRG they have supported the Kurdish settlement process in Turkey from the beginning and spent all their effort to contribute the process in positive way.
According to KRG’s Prime Ministry sources, Zana and Önder coveyed Öcalan’s greeting to Barzani and informed him about the content of their latest meeting with PKK leader. Barzani reiterated his support to the settlement process at the meeting and promised his government’s best effort in the from now on.
Beside this, the latest situation in the fight against terrorism, reconvention of Kurdish congress and cooperation and solidarity among Kurdish forces also were discussed at the meeting.
