Kuwait, Yemen Condemn Deadly PKK Attack İn Se Turkey

27.08.2016 03:48

World leaders continued to voice condemnations for a recent PKK terrorist attack Friday that martyred nearly a dozen police officers in southeastern Turkey.

Kuwait's official news agency KUNA reported that Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah had sent a note of condolence to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he strongly condemned the terrorist attack targeting "innocent people" and contradicts with "all humanitarian values and doctrines of divine religions".

Al-Sabah said Kuwait stands with Turkey and international community in the fight against terrorism.

Yemen's foreign ministry condemned the attack, according to the country's official news agency SABA.

"We support all kind of efforts and measures to fight with these terrorist attacks which target the security and stability in Turkey," it said in a statement.

At least 11 officers were martyred when PKK terrorists detonated a truck bomb near a security checkpoint in the province of Sirnak, the regional governor's office said.

Officials said the blast also injured 75 police officers and three civilians.

The terrorist attack took place at 6.45 a.m. (0345GMT) 50 meters from a riot police unit headquarters in the town of Cizre, the governor's office added.

The blast caused extensive damage to the police building. Nearby houses and workplaces were also damaged.

Turkey's Supreme Board of Radio and Television has banned all broadcasts about the deadly attack in the interest of public safety and the ongoing investigation. -
