Two people were killed and 17 others were injured in a blast that took place at a factory in the southern province of Antalya on Wednesday.
The incident reportedly occurred when a boiler loudly exploded at around 8.30 a.m. Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade Chief Ahmet Kısa, speaking to the media, said that two of the 17 injured are in critical condition.
Antalya Mayor Menderes Türel went to the scene of the disaster to make examinations. Türel extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and said the reason for the explosion has not yet been confirmed.
The factory is located in the Organized Industry Region off the Antalya-Burdur highway. The explosion caused damage to one side of the factory. A criminal investigation has been launched into the incident.(Cihan/Today's Zaman)
