Lawyers of 11 detainees including Zaman Daily Editor-in-chief Ekrem Dumanlı, Head of Samanyolu TV Network Hidayet Karaca and several other police officers, couldn’t attend the hearings of their clients as setting barriers in the corridors of courthouse police forces prevented them from entering courtroom.
After Ekrem Dumanlı’s hearing kicked off at the early hours on Thursday, police forces closed the corridors around the courtroom and didn’t allow lawyers to pass over. Policemen said that only Dumanlı’s official lawyer can attend the hearing despite other lawyer’s comments saying restriction against lawyers are unlawful during the hearing.
On the other hand, policemen took the photos of lawyers and press members who were recording the argument between security forces and lawyers.
