Malagasy President Hery Rajaonarimampianina on Friday received the new government, which was presented to him by newly-appointed Prime Minister Roger Kolo.
The new government is composed of 31 ministers, including six women.
"You are urged to serve a country whose growth rate stood at 2.4 percent in 2013 [and] with growth estimated at 3 percent for 2014," the president told members of the new government.
Kolo, for his part, hailed his government as representative of all the country's political forces.
"Government ministers are ready to achieve the objectives outlined by the president," he told reporters.
At the top of these, the premier said, were job creation and the revitalization of the economy.
However, the Mapar Party, which controls the largest bloc in Madagascar's parliament, slammed the new government.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Mapar spokesman Pierre Houlder described Kolo's new line-up as "incoherent and far from representing all the political and social segments of Malagasy society."
Prior to his recent appointment, Kolo – a member of the Andry Rajoelina Party, which backed Rajaonarimampianina's 2013 presidential bid – won the endorsement of a majority of MPs.
However, Mapar, which holds 49 of 141 seats in parliament, has vowed to challenge the constitutionality of Kolo's appointment, which ended an almost three-month vacancy of the premiership.
A physician by training, Kolo made his career in France and Switzerland before returning to his native country, according to an Anadolu Agency reporter.
Following a 2009 military coup that unseated elected president Marc Ravalomanana, Madagascar was internationally isolated.
This isolation eased, however, following presidential and legislative polls last December.
Rajaonarimampianina was ultimately declared winner of the presidential election with 53 percent of the vote.
