A special unit within the National Police Department called the Cosmic Work Group (KÇG), allegedly led by Interior Minister Efkan Ala, has prepared a report profiling bureaucrats who do not bow to government pressure, and recommended their relocation to posts in Eastern Turkey, a media report has revealed.

In an escalation of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's witch hunt against the faith-based Hizmet movement, in an attempt to stifle the Dec. 17 and 25 corruption scandals, the government is now targeting all dissenting elements of the state that are resisting the government's unlawful practices.

According to the Taraf daily, the KÇG drew up a profiling report about the Small and Medium Industry Development Organization (KOSGEB) and instructed the demotion of high-ranking officials and bureaucrats in the institution.

The news report claimed on Monday that the unit labeled some bureaucrats as main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) “sleeper cells,” and demanded they be removed from their posts.

The KÇG report defined and categorized these officials as “supporters of the CHP and MHP” and “members of the parallel structure,” and instructed that these officials be traced and their influence over KOSGEB be weakened.

KOSGEB is an organization that provides million of dollars in zero-interest loans to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These funds intend to help create new jobs and provide employment for tens of thousands of people.

According to the media reports, the same KÇG had previously sent a secret directive to the Ministry of Finance to bring about the closure of 100,000 firms linked to the Hizmet movement. The firms were being monitored for refusing to obey government instructions.

Taraf claims that the 12-page report, titled "Urgent Action Report," profiled the officials in accordance with their political opinions, their links with the business world, and their families, and it highlighted that the bureaucrats who support the MHP have a large influence over KOSGEB, recommending a purge.

The report allegedly suggests different profiling titles for alleged supporters of the opposition parties and the Hizmet movement. For instance, it mentioned an official who goes by the initials M.K. as "an active militant in the parallel structure," while saying that S.T. "was employed following a reference from Akın İpek's mother." İpek is a well-known businessman. Similarly, for another official the report says, "His wife works at the Telecommunications Directorate [TİB] and he is a potential threat."
