A memorial ceremony was held at AKM for the Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Istanbul MP of the DEM Party, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, who passed away yesterday due to multiple organ failure. MINISTER TUNÇ: AN INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN INITIATED
Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç condemned the attack on Özel. In a statement on his social media account, Minister Tunç reported that the suspect has been taken into custody and an investigation has been initiated regarding the incident. He stated: "I strongly condemn the physical attack against CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel and send my best wishes for his recovery. An immediate judicial investigation has been initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding this despicable attack, and the suspect has been taken into custody. In democratic societies, violence cannot be a legitimate means for any opinion or disagreement. It is the shared responsibility of everyone who believes in the rule of law and social peace to display a common and resolute stance against violence."
