Ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, currently jailed pending multiple trials, greeted Egyptians on Monday on the advent of Eid al Fitr, which marks the end of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

Ousted Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi, currently jailed pending multiple trials, greeted Egyptians on Monday on the advent of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy Muslim month of Ramadan.

The greeting was made through Morsi's official Facebook page, administered by his investment minister Yehia Hamed.

In his message, Morsi lauded "the Egyptians' continued revolution" and voiced support for the Palestinians "resistance."

Morsi was ousted by the army in July of last year following mass protests against his one-year rule.

He currently faces a number of trials on violence- and espionage-related charges, which the ousted president insists are politically motivated.

Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, the former army chief widely seen as the main architect of Morsi's ouster, was elected president in May.

Morsi supporters, however, continue to stage near-daily protests against the elected leader's ouster, amid an ongoing crackdown on dissent by Egypt's military-backed authorities.
