In the investigation regarding the discovery of a mother, father, and their 5-year-old daughter found dead with gunshot wounds to their heads in Mardin, a neighbor's statement revealed shocking details. M.C. stated that on the day of the incident, he went to Mehmet Kaya's house for tea, saying, "He took out the gun I bought for him and fired a shot at his wife Berna, who was sitting on the floor in front of the opposite sofa. Then the daughter said, 'Dad, what are you doing?' This time, Mehmet fired a shot at his daughter."
In the Kızıltepe district of Mardin, Berna Kaya (33), Mehmet Kaya (37), and their child Samyeli Kaya (5) were found dead in their apartment, shot in the head. As part of the investigation into the incident, the statement of their neighbor M.C., one of the two arrested individuals, has emerged.
The incident occurred on the night of November 25 in the apartment on the second floor of Hacı Şeyhmus Can Apartment located on Mardin Street in the Turgut Özal neighborhood of Kızıltepe. Neighbors, who had not heard from the Kaya family, entered the apartment by opening the door with the help of the neighborhood head. Upon checking the house, they found father Mehmet Kaya, mother Berna Kaya, and their child Samyeli Kaya lying motionless, shot in the head. Health and police teams were dispatched to the address following the notification. It was determined that the three individuals had lost their lives. The funerals of Berna Kaya and her daughter Samyeli Kaya were buried side by side in Akköprü Cemetery in the Tuşba district of Van. The funeral of Mehmet Kaya was buried in the rural İşgören neighborhood of Savur district.
NO STRUGGLE EVIDENCE IN THE HOUSE, NO FORCE ON THE DOOR
In the examination conducted by the crime scene investigation teams, it was revealed that the weapon was not found in the house. No signs of struggle were detected in the house, and it was also determined that there was no forced entry at the door. Samyeli's lifeless body was found on the sofa, while her parents were found in the middle of the room. A special team was established by the Provincial Security Directorate regarding the incident. All City Security Management System (KGYS) and security cameras in the district were taken under examination as part of the investigation. Additionally, statements from the family's neighbors and relatives were also taken.
2 PEOPLE ARRESTED, 2 SUSPECTS IN CUSTODY
As part of the investigation, the family's neighbor M.C. was caught with the pistol believed to have been used in the incident. M.C. was referred to the courthouse after processing. Nurullah Öner, one of the family's lawyers, stated that M.C. was arrested for 'tampering with evidence' and 'intentional murder' after leaving the courthouse. Additionally, V.E., who is alleged to have assisted M.C., was also taken into custody. V.E., whose procedures at the police station were completed, was arrested for 'tampering with evidence' and sent to prison. Two more suspects were also taken into custody regarding the incident. The procedures of the suspects at the police station are ongoing.
"WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS"
The statement of the arrested neighbor M.C. has also emerged. In his statement, M.C. said: "Mehmet is my neighbor. We have been in contact for about 10 years. Mehmet asked me to find him a pistol. About 10 days ago, I obtained a pistol from a friend who is a florist for 17,000 TL. I gave it to Mehmet the next day. I do not know why Mehmet wanted a pistol from me. On Monday, November 24, Mehmet called me during the day and said we would fix the antenna. We repaired the antenna. Mehmet invited me to his home for tea and coffee. Before entering his residence, he gave me a bag containing 2 gold bracelets, 2 rings, and 1 earring, along with some cash and a watch and prayer beads. When I asked why he gave it to me, he said, 'It's a gift.'

After that, we entered the residence, had tea and coffee, and chatted. Mehmet was called by another person named Mehmet, who said a woman would come and asked him to pick her up from Urfa and take her to Diyarbakır, and Mehmet accepted. After accepting, he had an argument with his wife Berna. Then the argument ended. We continued our conversation. Suddenly, Mehmet pulled out the pistol I had bought for him from his back, took it in his left hand, and shot Berna, who was sitting on the floor in front of the sofa looking at her laptop. Then his daughter said, 'Dad, what are you doing?' Mehmet then shot his daughter. I said, 'What are you doing, brother Mehmet?' He told me, 'If you talk, they will kill you.' Then he shot himself.
