Turkey's ruling AK Party elected Amasya MP Mehmet Naci Bostanci as new parliamentary group deputy chairman.
The chair fell vacant following the appointment of Nurettin Canikli, former deputy group chairman of AK Party, as the new minister of customs and trade, replacing Hayati Yazici.
Bostanci won 263 votes out of 265 lawmakers who attended Monday's parliamentary group meeting.
Bostanci was born in the northern Turkish city of Amasya on August 2, 1957, and he was a professor in the communications department of Gazi University in Ankara before being elected as deputy in 2011.
