Eight volunteers, including Turkish citizen Şuayb Ordu from the Madleen Freedom Fleet, were detained by Israel and taken to the Ramleh Detention Center. The court ruled that the deportation process could be extended until July 8, and that the volunteers could be held for an indefinite period.
FORCED TO STOP, THEY ARE BEING HELD FORCIBLY During the hearing held on the night of June 10 at Israel's Ramleh detention center, the Interior Ministry's detention order was accepted by the court. Israeli forces forcibly stopped the fleet, which was en route from Sicily to Gaza and sailing only in international waters, seized it, and detained the volunteers against their will.
ISRAEL ACCUSES VOLUNTEERS OF "ILLEGAL ENTRY" Eight individuals, including citizens of Turkey, France, the Netherlands, Germany, and Brazil, have been charged with "illegal entry into Israel." However, it has been documented that the volunteers had no intention of entering Israel and that their route was directed towards the territorial waters of the State of Palestine.
ADALAH: A HUMAN RIGHTS CATASTROPHE The Israel-based legal organization Adalah described the practice as "completely unlawful." The statement said, "The volunteers should be released immediately and allowed to return to their duties safely. Israel is systematically violating international law."
THEY COULD BE HELD IN A CELL FOR A MONTH The court stated that the deportation process could be extended until July 8, 2025, ruling that the volunteers could be held for more than 72 hours, for an indefinite period.
Suayb Ordu "MY WIFE SIGNED THE DEPORTATION DOCUMENTS" Suayb Ordu's wife, Sümeyra Akdeniz Ordu, who is waiting for his deportation in Israel, made statements to NTV reporter Melike Şahin.
Stating that her husband is in prison, Ordu said, "My husband has also signed the documents, and there is a complicated situation right now; although he signed the documents regarding whether it will be approved or not, they are extending it. It was decided that some people in the team should sign early so that they could announce what happened to the media."
Sümeyra Akdeniz Ordu, who said that the embassy met with Şuayb Ordu yesterday, shared the following: "He has especially said several times, 'Sümeyra shouldn't worry, I'm fine.' They said you can meet again tomorrow, but today they didn't allow the Turkish Embassy either. He will stay there tonight. The return route is still not clear."
Stating that she would not do anything that "would please Israel," Ordu said, "I will not do anything that would harm my teammates."
Ordu stated, "Individually, we can do things with crazy courage, but as a team that has learned from the Mavi Marmara, we all have to consider the integrity and trust of the group. I know they are working together, and I am sure Şuayb will act accordingly. I trust the decision he will make at that point."
